BAND CAMP 2009 (DUNGUN, TERENGGANU)
I've been assigned to teach juniors of Jengka's and Dungun's band. The reason my senior did this because they want us to experience and learn all by ourselves how to manage a marching band. Marching band high need in discipline, commitment, interest in music and most importantly TEAMWORK. While everyone enjoying their holiday, me and my band members put our commitment on teaching our juniors how to play the instruments and know the musics for over a week at UITM DUNGUN. We taught them to learn and love our MARCHING BAND a.k.a THE RED MAVERICKS.

This picture was taken at our last day at the camp. Everyone were so excited to go home but at the same time we were sad enough to leave Dungun and our new friends there. We laughed. cried, hugged our friends and took a lot.. i mean really A LOT of pictures with everybody. This picture will always be in my mind. :)
Okay. These are the 13 commanders that had been assigned to complete our task to teach and handle the juniors. (Standing from left) Zuheir, Anas, Azim, Afiq, Saidi. (Sit from left) Ain, Rynn, Wawa, Me, Daus, Ezani, Bella, Adha.
I've got such a lot of happy and sad memories with all of them. We've been together in this band since 2008. All the shows that we had performed, we did it in professional as a team. If there is a problem, these are the people i would refer to. They were amazingly good, fun, discipline in doing their responsibility. Back at the camp, we got a lots of problem as in problem in juniors, the instrument got problem, the time management and so on. They did not give up , still, they deal it good. So, what can i say.. they bring a band spirit towards me.

Back then, Dungun experienced a bad heavy-rain that sort of interupt our programme. Supposed that these students have to play the instrument outside of this classroom. Unfortunately, there were rain and the instrument cannot be exposed by rain because it my causes the instrument a damage(The instrument are all RM1000 above). As you can see, these juniors put all of their effort to played each of instrument that have been given to the them. In this picture, it showed a TRUMPET. They were called TRUMPETERS. It was not easy to play this instrument and good at it in one day. It took me a month to play but not well enough. Imagine that !! Its all about how you put your mouth and breathing all together. It was HARD.
What you see the instrument in this picture is what we called FLUTE. It used a lot of breathing and how do you blow it. Still, you may see it easy to play it, but believe me. It wasn't easy. =.=" .
Azim there tried his very best to explain to that junior who hold flute on how the chords and notes should be sound. He is very patient person. Eventhough it took several hours to taught the junior, he still maintain his anger. Well done Azim !! :) Right next to the junior is Wawa, she also played Flute. I dont really know what was she thinking that time. All I know is she is seriously EXHAUSTED. haha
It was morning, rainy, COLD! I think it was 7 am. We did a simple physical exercise and did a fun activities as well before we have some breakfast. Such as BOOM2, 1x2 and so on. We knew that everyone were sleepy, so we added some fun activities to brighten them up. It was fun and we had a lot of laughed. Saidi (cream sweater lead this morning activity) gave a brief talked about that day activities and told simple instructions to them.
This is was the best moment of all for those juniors. This is when they experienced their first performance infront all the VIP's of UITM Dungun and Kesatria. They were great !! They look confident and fun in the performance. This was the very proud and best moment for me as well because i had teach them with all my best and fully commitment. As i looked at them, I felt proud because what they performed was my effort. :D
That red shirt is Anas. He lead this Upper-Brass that include trumpet, trombone and so on. Anas had lost his voice due to screaming and all. Poor Anas. But that doesnt stop him to lead this group. Instead of using his voice, he gave instructions by using his hands. The juniors understands. We used to see orchestra and all. They dont use voice to give instructions, but used their hands. Same as this.
"Malam Kebudayaan" is a MUST programme in a camp. This showed us meeting and discussed what are we going to perform. We decided to 2 songs. I didnt remember the title. -_-. We dance, sang an all. It was fun. The performance for "Malam Kebudayaan" went well. :)
This was a study session. How challenging it was. It was raining, cold will cause a SLEEPY disease. hehehe. So, anyone who caught sleeping, we, commanders will take a picture of those sleepy head and exposed it at the very last day of camp. HAHA. They were taught on recognizing the notes and chords. Learn the instruments and all. Well, it was sleepy, theory class of course. At the end, they managed to control from sleeping. Wow. Good for them. Im proud of you kids !! :)
I dont know what brings us up to took this kind of picture. HAHA. But, the picture is great, right? It was a pictures of commanders and juniors. haa. They were funny especially that boy who held that trumpet(tiaw). He's CRAZY. haha
We were on our way to Kuantan to have some lunch first before go back to Jengka. Well, as you can see here all the weird faces they showed, actually, they were singing emotionally.haha. Oh my. How happy they were. :) The driver bus open a karaoke. We as a teenagers, not letting go the chances to sing whatever songs that the driver bus into it. Amazingly, they were singing all the what we called "rock kapak" songs. Whose that dont know the songs, just sang it a same rythm but use their own lyrics ! hahaha.
HAAA. This is all my very own "army". Second row is what we called clarineters they played clarinet which i also played it. Certain people to called it "duck sound" because when the instrument doesnt be play well, it will bring out a duck sounds. It was ANNOYING.
Now, im here at Melaka i miss my band a LOT!! All the memories with them will not be forget.
Thank you guys . :)
